I get about 32mpg on my 200tdi and my insurance is only £193 a year where a 300tdi is £420
i will have you know the megane hasnt broken down since the last time...although the last time i had to work on it was yesterday...and the next time will be at about 4pm today when the mrs comes home as she said it sounds as if the exhaust has fallen off...
.ive no idea why but insurance is nearly 3x higher for 300tdi than for 200tdi with the same driving details entered
Is the Megane really that bad or is it your mechanic skils that are questionable
Only slightly off topic, but lately I've been seeing 200tdis selling for more then 300's in better condition
Getting rarer now .. remember how old they are and how much they rust![]()
when needed, does that mean you will be using yours also ? if so I would check with your insurance as you may not be covered for such use as is the case for people delivering pizza or parcels and so oni fear you may have missed my last post...they have said i can use a pool car when needed as i wont know where im going until the day so will have to go to the factory anyway
I think a lot depends on the type of driving involved and your right foot, if your crusing around on nice flat dual carridgeways & motorways at a constant speed then the advertised mpg might be attainable, but throw in a few hills, a bit of stuff in the boot and perhaps a passenger or 2 and you'll soon see the mpg plummet.I have never found smaller engined cars to be economical at all. I had a Polo E once and couldnt get 30mpg.
I get 52mpg from my 200,000 mile volvo v70 D5. Zero deprecation and will do a further 200k
