A big 4 jaw gets very heavy very quickly
Fwiw - my Student 2500 came with an 8" PB 4 jaw. (2002 model - so basically the same lathe as the M300 by that point)..Am guessing I would go for something like a 6" to an 8".
Good point, I am 6' 3" and have my Myford raised.Another thing to consider is the height of the lathe, I am 5' 11" and I ended up raising the lathe so I am not 'too' hunched over the controls.
The caveat to this is the emergency brake foot bar can't be adjusted easily (I could but it would be a LOT of work)
so I ended up putting it on 2 paving slabs down and it's bolted to the floor through them and then adjusted accordingly

You can see it in the corner of this shot and how I had to shim the flags slightly. If I get the chance, I'll take a better picture later
Any chance of some dimensions on the splashback when you are next near it mate? Mine doesn't have one!Brilliant - I am sure you will be very happy with it!
As regards the splash back.
Do you REALLY need it? As most people use carbide tooling these days you can do a lot without using coolant.
I have the splashback for my Colchester Triumph but haven't got around to fitting it yet.
I use cutting fluid parting off and bigger turning jobs. For aluminium I use wd40 and dry for cast iron and brass.
Even without the spalshback I get very little mess on the wall behind. Maybe just use a good pain on the wall that can be easily wiped down.
For the Triumph roundhead?Any chance of some dimensions on the splashback when you are next near it mate? Mine doesn't have one!
Yes mateFor the Triumph roundhead?
yes, I am tracking my friend who is picking it up, he is under 30 minutes away from the collection address. my garage is cleared and my brother is on standby to help unload and move into location.@Rannsachair No more sleeps left, are you all organised for collection today?
