If you wanted to make money out of them then now is the time to do it.
To be honest, even though I have the capability to cut out a stub and weld a new one in, my first plan was just to replace the complete axle.
A new axle is not particularly expensive but in my case, it's not a stock item and I'm looking at a 6 month lead time.
The manufacture is saying that's due to furlough etc. but I'm presuming it's going to take a while for them to sort the backlog out
The individual stubs are not available as replacement parts though!
I'm not sure how much demand there will be for them? Most members of this forum would be able to swap out a stub but not many members of the general public would and most repair places probably won't want to bother with a job like that.
I started messing about with this in August.
We get a few calls from people who know we mess around with stuff like this and since last august I have only had one call from a guy that does trailer servicing and they managed to find a second hand axle for the one they had.
I think the stub I provided fits 2 or 3 series of hubs though so i will provide the info i have as it might be worth making and advertising one?
Like I said, I did not originally consider replacing it but if one had come up when I was searching for an axle it would have at least made me consider it and it's going to be about the only option for people for the next few months at least.
edit: There was at least one other thread on here at the same time I started this one with a guy who needed one.
I will try and find it and tag him in this thread
