Just bought 3x 3phase transformers yesterday, 1x 400kva 1x630kva and 1x 1000kva thinking I would make a killing scrapping them for copper.
I've already scrapped the smaller two and it's not looking good, about 7-800kg so far. The 400kva gave me a little over 350kg and I thought the 630 would have about 30% more but it was little more than the same amount again.
Now I'm afraid to scrap the 1000kva because I need it to have at least 750kg to break even.
Anybody here ever scrapped one of them or anyone know how much is in them?
It's an oil cooled type from 1972 made by ACEC.
There's a plate on the side with the weights on it and it says the weight of the cores and windings is 1810kgs.
Might just have to try sell it as is and try get my money back as I really don't want to scrap it and find out it's not got enough in it.
