Any upvc window fitters? Locking woes

had a new set of French doors fitted last spring , since we had the heatwave in the summer they wouldn't latch/lock .
Well what I mean is you can't lift the handle to engage the locks .
I think something has expanded with the heat ,
I see there are some eccentric screws /adjuster things on the frame do I alter theses ???
Any help much appreciated

Those eccentric screws on the latch plate alter the position of the latch plate, to pull the door in tighter else loosen it off, once latched. Just push on the door in various spots from outside, with the door closed, (as you try latching it), until you find which area is causing the problem, then adust to suit.

Can you take a full length photo of the edge of the master sash? That’s the one that opens first.

1st look on the where the locks go in to and see if there is metal scraps thai will tell you where /what needs ajusting



when a mate had a problem with his door i could not see what needs ajustment so i marked up where the plates that recive are and removed them one by one and then closed the door that then told me what one needs ajustment also i could have a good look to see if there are any marks

J there are eccentric cams in the hinge pins and the hinges slide .... Alan screw hole on honge side accessible when open

As mentioned earlier by MattF, the eccentric cam screws will let the latch plates in and out. It’s VERY VERY important to have some kind of method in your adjustments. If you start moving things in and out or up and down at random, you can end up in a real mess.

Be methodical, look for signs of bruising on the metal and adjust accordingly.

Also, the shoot bolt keeps on the top and bottom of the frame may need adjusting in or out. They will be fixed on an elongated slot so, gently unscrew the screws a little. Pride the plate backwards or forwards and tighten up. Check and repeat if necessary.

If you can, mark the position of anything you are going to move with a very sharp pencil. Otherwise it can be difficult to reposition something accurately.

Also be aware the glass has to be toe and heeled to hold the door frame square . packers are used to hold door in position. sometimes if this is not done properly the door will drop or distort hence door doesn't shut or lock properly.

Also the lock mechanism is made of the finest Swiss cheese,
It has a design that if your frail old granny has trouble pulling the handle up,
The Swiss cheese inside cracks .
Does the door mechanism work with the door open ?
If so look it's alignment, usually bottom shoot bolt , srewws on the keep move and jam the bolt

That's what had happened with our front door after a spell of hot weather and the handle would not lift to lock it. If you try to dog the screws in they strip the plastic and you have to put some packing in

Yes of cource there under warranty , but I don't really want to take a day off to wait round for someone to turn up . I'll have a go and if no joy I'll call em .

Just be careful. If they suss you've had a go at fixing them, they can claim the warranty is null & void, depends on the very small print in the agreement.

Ok little update , I investigated a bit and you can't lift the handle even if the doors open , meaning thelocking mechanism must be at fault .
From day one it took a sharp tug to engage the lock .
As you said muppet made of Swiss cheeses possibly
