Hi,
I just bought a Parweld 171 to replace an ancient clarke mig.
I will only be welding on car bodywork, so around 1mm steel.
On a few practise pieces I tried .8 with power at the lowest I found doing spots was fine but a seam would blow through.
After talking with Parweld they suggested .6 would be better, it is a little better but still seems too powerful a welder for what I want to do,sometimes blowing holes with a continuous (2cm)weld even with .6
I tested on a small piece of clean sheet not on old panels. I have only used this machine for a few minutes on each wire dia
Have I bought something too powerful for car work? I realise some or a lot of it will be down to me and my skills and techniques.
Any advice would be appreciated especially if you use a Parweld 171
Cheers
