Any one used these cutting discs

I was thinking of getting one. Can they be used in the handheld 9 inch grinder as I go through disc like theres no tomorrow. For a 1000 cuts they would by ideal.

I've got one of a different brand in my small grinder and I'm not keen. The cut is definitely slower, not as clean on the back side, and although they state less sparks ( which is true) the bits it chucks off are bigger.
I've swapped it back out for a standard slitting disc.

Pic shows the reverse side of some 3mm flat I cut with it.

You could ask @. if the R&D dept have got any of these in? Maybe they only do aluminium ones though

@Pete. is up to speed on diamond cutting discs, the ones we use on our floor saw have no problem cutting concrete/reo steel when used with a water feed.

Diamonds don't like cutting steel dry. The heat and pressure knocks the corners off the diamonds and makes them slippery, or just pulls them out of the matrix altogether.

I'm afraid I have no experience whatsoever of any diamond blades claiming to be specifically designed for that task. We would not use them at work because the burrs left behind could open your hand up.

Cheers for all the replies. After watching some of the reviews I am staying with the normal cutting discs.

Yep, it either outright burns them, or bonds the carbon to the steel.

55 seconds for a normal disc and almost 4 minutes for the diamond one!

I gave these a decent shot a while ago.

They were decent for sheet, up to about 1.5mm, anything beyond that and it just took way too long to melt your way through Vs a normal slitting disc.

They lasted ages and the lack of abrasive dust everywhere was a huge bonus.

Unfortunately I don't do a great deal with sheet so it was back to normal slitting discs for me.

Best slitting discs I've used are the Pferd EHT
More than twice the price of a standard disc, but easily cuts 4 times as much (and a quarter of the dust)

Pferd 1.6mm 5" cutting disks outlast a 1.0mm cutting disc about 4:1 and they're about double the price.
I have some of the ceramic 1.0mm ones at about £2 a disc but couldn't really see any performance benefit.
