You need a license if it’s over 250 Gramms
Of course everyone who flies a drone these days has a license ……. Not

A lot of it wasn't idiots but the media and airline pilots association deliberately creating scare storiesRuined by idiots tbh. People who need to be told that something is illegal before they can understand how bad an idea it is.
Look again. It's tethered to 4 full cd wallets. Isn't going anywhereBrave man flying it inside , a sneeze would smash it into the wall abruptly ending its flying career![]()
The problem is that the folk who actually build models are a vanishing breed. Everyone wants to buy a scale spitfire and fly it when they get home. They haven't the will or interest to spend weeks /months building just instant gratification. Same with off road . Spend a few weeks building /modifying a vehicle and getting to know the rules and etiquette . Now buy a traily today dig up the countryside tomorrow. Especially the 4 wheel brigade.Aye. When things become mainstream and easily accessible it's easy for idiots to get involved.
When you've got to build them and hae an understanding of the programming of them you tend to have more respect for how you use them.
Stuff is just more affordable I think in a lot of ways. Which makes it more accessible which is largely a good thing but occasionally you then make it accessible to cretins who ruin it for all. Without getting political the system is such that it appears easier to blanket ban things than actually stop those doing wrong and educate/punish themThe problem is that the folk who actually build models are a vanishing breed. What sort of drone sims are there available?Under 250g so never had an Issue in the past.
Second test flight. First a ESC crapped out and landed in a puddle. Played it safe.
And my maiden flight
Been a god few years since I've flown. Got back on the Sims last week ready to get it out again. Now I'm gonna have to jump through ridiculous hoops.
My only option for the kids electric trials bikes is the garden or the trials practice ground locally. Not the best place for them .Stuff is just more affordable I think in a lot of ways. Thought this with the little 2 stroke push bike kits look a good laugh but ffs not worth the removal or points on a licence that would be threatened!Does no harm pootling around the empty unused sports field but I know if I do some busy body will hang us out to dry.
Well it seems my 13000 hours of flying aircraft including 1500 hours as a flying instructor stands for nothing, I am certified to fly an Airbus A320 which is over 68 tonnes but my little 50cc model aircraft in the loft is now a danger to society.Unfortunately there is no distinction between any of them as they are all unmanned aircraft now. Anything above 250 grams and below 25 kg falls in to the requirement for CAA Article 16 Authorisation to fly these models now
This has changed as of Dec 31st 2020 you now need the above authorisation to fly them
It's all very well letting a couple of kids do a bit of practice under sensible control buy before you know it the place will be heaving with a bunch of random nippers with no control or sense .Having ridden off road in most formats for 60 years I would dearly to build an off roader with my grandson but with only a medium sized garden and nowhere else it can't happen. My only option for the kids electric trials bikes is the garden or the trials practice ground locally. I live in a small village mate. In not about to be inundated with teens on bikes following my lead.
These "privacy issues" regarding drones boil my p**s, no body considers every mobile phone a "privacy issue" or if i'm walking around with my camera with my 150-600mm lens on it, but as soon as you start taking photos from a different point of view, it's automatically assumed you're a pervert and need monitoring.Good question. I wonder if its the addition of the camera; resultant privacy issues - and being able to control it beyond the pilot's horizon/view..?
I suppose it’s the view point? Ie as good as your camera is it can’t see over a 10’ wall but a drone can get up and look down? That’s my take on it but I agree just because I can get an aerial view of sheep it doesn’t make me a deviantThese "privacy issues" regarding drones boil my p**s, no body considers every mobile phone a "privacy issue" or if i'm walking around with my camera with my 150-600mm lens on it, but as soon as you start taking photos from a different point of view, it's automatically assumed you're a pervert and need monitoring.
Dont have an issue with drones overflying my property anymore. I still keep the black widow by the back door just in case though.I suppose it’s the view point?
