Latest project and goof up! Thought I'd make a decent dog drive plate for the lathe, using metal from the stock pile ( known by others as junk). Had some 1" thick plate so made the basic plate from that. As my lathe has a D1-3 spindle mount made some cam lock pins. They are 9/16" dia with a 7/16" UNF thread, so three pins ready for threading, so looked up the minor diameter for 7/16" thread ( guess where this is going). Turned down the first one and then muppet brain realised that the metal that was supposed to hold the threads on the pin was now in the form of small chips scattered all over the lathe. Oh dear, can I weld the chips back on? Nah, better idea, have a damn good swear and go indoors for a cup of tea.
Back later and made a new pin, so got there in the end. Not the first time I've goofed up and deffo not the last time either.
