As in?
Strangely the others don't seem too bad. Seems as if only the front one has ended up squashed. What are the rest of the shells like? Those will tell you far more about the causes.
If the bores have been worn for a long time and it's just been cold started loads, then the oil will have diluted. Doesn't help the situation in an already fairly delicate engine...
Ah ok not by my son thenMessed about with, driven hard and not looked after.
I got sent this. Rule of thumb is that an o ring should be 25% thicker than the groove it sits in so as to give a good seal, so groove depth x1.25 is about right. Usually width minus depth is a good indicator. You should be able to work out the size of oring needed by measuring the width of the slot it fits in, the diameter of the hole it goes in and the diameter of the piece it goes over.
Just purchased a set.....it's something I always need but don't have ...lolYou should be able to measure anything you need for O-ring tolerances with a vernier caliper...
I hate "snap" telescopic gauges. They range from incredibly poor, to just ok. If you want to run tight mains and big end tolerances, tighter than 1 thou per 1"diameter, then you want something accurate to a tenth, and telescopic ones simply aren't good enough.
I am redirecting this thread as it's getting expensive..lolWhich gtr? Is it v6 or straight 6, what's the issue?
Did you do any RB26 engines?i used to rebuild these things for bread in my past life
