Any maths wizz's around

I'm currently doing a distance learning hnc and have come to the maths module.
I can just about remember enough about quadratic equations to work that section out but have come to a couple of questions about mathematical sequences that I am stuck on. Unfortunately the point in the lecture they discussed this was at 8pm so went in one ear and out the other. Is anyone willing or able to give me a few pointers in the right direction with this.

I was trying to working something out recently, I had an idea of what I needed to know but couldn't for the life of me
remember enough to work it out; I knew what I didn't know sort of thing.
I had a look on Youtube, there were numerous applicable videos and the one I watched gave a
good explanation with good examples.

I remember doing further maths and thermodynamics when I did my hnc a number of years ago. All I recall is how much I wasn’t interested and subsequently how much I didn’t understand. Unfortunately I can’t remember any of it now but good luck!!!

Never been any good at those sequence things. Really not the interesting side of maths.

Give me triangles, forces and loads on slopes all day.

My brain isnt wired up right for maths. I was ok at school while they did maths with numbers. As soon as they threw letters into the mix my brain cell switched off

Learn how to calculate things in the correct order. Calculate them in the wrong order, and you can get a wrong answer!

Yeek, I never understood all that.

And failed my maths A-Level.

Yeek, I never understood all that.

And failed my maths A-Level.

The quadratics I can remember and did myself but now I'm in uncharted territory. I dropped out of maths and further maths A levels as I decided I would far rather be outside. I would still rather be outside but I now realize playing about doesn't pay great and can't be done forever unless you want to be so crippled you can't enjoy retirement

When at school I used to do quadratic equations in my head which lead the teacher to accuse me of cheating and not showing my working. After asking him to write a new equation on the board and giving him the answer within a minute he went into a right huff and told me I must show my working. This meant I wrote down the answer then reverse engineered it to show some working out. I have no idea how on earth I did it.
As that was 46 years ago I use a calculator nowadays

I've a set of A level maths textbooks here from circa 2005, en route to the charity shop but can divert to you if it's any help. From memory;
P1,P2,P3 S1,S2, D1. No mechanics ones.

Pm me if that'd help.

An up to date set from the organiser of the exam papers will probably be better for passing the test but principals should be same if covered.

From your question regarding "sequences" I recall a bit on sequences and series that focussed on different ways that you can create and reverse engineer a series or logical progression. The details are gone but I suspect it's a sort of gateway into something else - quadratics even...?

I don't think that I found quadratics too arduous. We did them at A level, possibly O level too. My brain started to seize when calculus was fed into it.

You can PM me if you like or post here...it's been 30 years for me but I can probably figure out most stuff at hnc level with a little reading. I mainly did pure and applied maths at uni...then after uni I went in a different (mathematical) direction.

The number series stuff I also found difficult but depends what level you are doing?...I'm assuming these aren't fourier/taylor series as that would be more advanced maybe? Basic differentiation/integration I can probably still remember....triple integrals are long gone from my head!

Algebra I'm good with as I use it every day for work (yes it's actually useful...nobody was more surprised than me )
