any maglite enthusiasts in?

ive got a 90s 6d maglite , cells gone rotten and jammed in the tube , i want to dismantle it and and batter then out from the other end

switch is held with a c clip and no obvious way to remove it ...any ideas please

Hi I had a similar upset with expanded AA cells in a handheld sat nav. First attempt with removal was with a flat ended rod and a small amount of superglue to stick to cell base. Unfortunately this was not strong enough to enable cell removal. I found the solution was to drill a small hole into the cell base and screw in a 3.5mm woodscrew. A quick pull and the cell was extracted. Good luck

tried a big screw...pulls out of the battery before it moves it , plus theres 6 of them so if i get the last one out i wont pull the others in the same way

The switch assy is held in by a allen screw, remove the switch rubber that you press and theres a small hole in the switch with a allen key at the bottom, slacken it off and pull the switch out through the lens end of the tube. Getting the batterys out are such fun, in the end i used a hole saw with the drill bit removed and cut the batterys out. Cleaned everything up with sanding paper, sprayed AF50 in the tube and refitted

Eventually achieved by a mixture of bashing the torch, minus end cap, down onto a block of softwood, and running water down the inside to try and dissolve the leaked and corroded deposits. It was quite a mess inside, and eventually got skipped.

mine has a c clip infront of it ...on a new torch the switch could slide out the back , i need to pull this clip

Boiling water helps remove them.
I was a big mag lite fan but now feel they are just so far behind the other brands

Yep mordern torches are way ahead of maglites. I have five maglites too

I have a 3D cell one that was the same many years ago - I had to destroy the switch to get it out. I rang the UK distributor/service agent and they sent me a new switch for free . . . Getting the corrosion out was the next issue - boiling water, wire brushes . . .

I have two or three multi-coloured "NASCAR" branded versions I don't use any more - a three AA cell Aldi LED torch out-performs them in a much smaller package. Less useful for tewatting things with through

yeah a £10 led is ten times the power ...but not so handy to have up your sleeve on a dark night

thinking i might have to smash the lot through , then see if i can salvage a switch out of a fb one or something , importer hasnt any switches in stock

Aah, Maglites! I've had several over the years but now all consigned to the annals of history.

We have one 4D cell kept by the door, don't even think it works, but Mrs TF likes having it there 'just in case'... (not for illumination!)

I'm a big fan of LED Lenser torches.

I use peli lites , not cheap but their warranty is second to non , and metalsub for diving ...
Maglite really have become a thing of the past , they used to be a music industry standard , most folk use their phone light for looking in the back of racks these days though.

dunno they was a pretty robost unit for a good price before led came along...they just didnt keep up the last 20 years

I bought a LED Lenser P4core AAA penlight torch - it is awkward to use - you have to press the button three times to get it on max output.
