any info on this-1920s michelin man compressor

grabbed this earlier in the week , believe theyre worth a bit of money working , its a michelin man tyre compressor from around 1920 if the internet tells the truth

cant seem to find a scrap of info with anyone fixing /repairing one

any intrest or info on here ?

see the first pic , right hand side , the elec flex looks like its a light bulb fitting lol , id heard they used to do that years ago

id do a bit more research on it mate b4 you spend on it as like a lot of old stuff its the condition if in good condition then I would think it would be worth a bit mate that's just my 2 penneth.

i paid his full asking price , not sure its worth as much as above but its a nice thing to own and tinker with

See if you can find American restoration on catch up. I remember seeing the one where they fixed it up. Although it won't go into much detail, It may give you a clue how to strip it down

It is great I really like it but some how thought it would be much bigger, seeing the video I now realise how small they are. Good luck and I hope you do a sympathetic restoration, would not want it looking new.

yeah thinking just clean it and any internal repair if possible ...they look worse all glossy and mint

There'll always be a steady market for the Michelin stuff, but your Mr Bibendum looks to have a bit of a hard life.

He may paradoxically however, be worth more 'as is' than restored.

The only thing I would do with that is make up or have made a super high quality wooden display case. Go overboard on the mountings, don't touch a single flake of paint. Then I'd either photograph it or have it photographed (i.e. studio quality) then punt it around dedicated forums or FaceBook groups (I bet there is one, in fact I'll double up and bet there are several!).

Don't accept the first offer. People will assume you have "no idea" of the value, the sort of buyer you want is not someone who wants it for it's value, they want it because they REALLY WANT IT.

I have seen them at Car shows jumbles etc but quite rare, haven't a clue on value
