Any ideas on make of drill

Got this drill from work as they were having a clearout & were going to dump it. Ive worked at the place 20yrs & never seen it used. But it does work.
Wondered if ayone knew anything about them ?

Ive just cleaned the plate up on the stand & it says van dam manufactured harmondworth middx no 60 bench drill stand

It's very similar to a Wolf I've got. Very low geared.

I'd use it through an RCD to be on the safe side, better still get it PAT tested.

I had one identical, am sure it was a Wolf, was very low speed with masses of torque, the damn thing was dangerous if you were holding it..it nearly broke my arm when the drill bit got stuck... no way was it going to stop, luckily I managed to let go.

Should make a great bench drill though ... unless it spins the bench

I tend to agree looks like an old wolf. I have one here somewhere and its very similar and a handful of a thing and bloody dangerous if it sticks, Like wise the one i have near nearly did me an injury a few times.

had a wolf one like that at a place i worked, but it was not in a press and it had a morse taper chuck.
it were known as the "gut buster" we used to use it on site, to redrill holes in base plates, that the fabs had ****ed up in the shop.
me and a mate, two holes each then swap, and it were a gut buster when it snagged!!

I was using mine today, it has two handles one for each hand, one of which has the trigger switch on. The third handle on the end is to allow pressure to be applied by pressing down with the chest.

Mine came from a locksmiths.

They have one exactly like it but a lot cleaner at the bike shop. The drill is a Wolf in that one and it is a really heavy duty tool.

I have a few of them, a couple of Wolfs with chucks and a B&D with a 4 or 5 morse taper! They are a bit scary to use as the switches have all died so you get the drill into position and switch an extension lead with yer foot;-)

That's not Van Dorn is it? One of my valve seat grinders had a VanDorn tag on it, I think there was a Harmondsworth address on it and I think it was the same address as on the B&D Vibrocentric grinders, spose they were taken over by B&D.
