ive tried gunson - no longer stocked

seems to work ok , cant really be far out how you calibrate it , as long as the legs arent rested against a wheel weight etc , can always recheck a few times to be sure

Could you not use the good one as a template and cut two out in 1/4" plywood? bearing in mind if you do this don't cut them going with the grain of the wood.

It wouldn't matter which way the visible grain runs Daniel. Ply has the layers grained 90 degrees to each other. I can't see why Daniels idea wouldn't work perfectly Steve, and even if you don't currently have the tools, all you need is a coping saw, a round file and a flat file. Cut two slightly oversize pieces of ply, then clamp them together in a vice, cut to rough shape and then file finish so they're a perfect match. You'd have to be truly crap with hand tools not to be able to knock a couple of those up within a hour or two.

They work very well if a little fiddly to initially set up. For a remade support, both the front and back of the support need to be the same as it rests on the nearside wheel on the front of the suport and the offside on the rear of it.

There is always the 4 wheel home method with stringlines and a rule, just print out a look up table for your wheelsize to degrees from mm.

yeah ive done it with string before now , works very well just takes a while to get it ready vs the laser thingy is a minute or so when its not broken

okay i made up some legs with split collars and some all thread , was all ready to pat myself on the back for suck a good job...BUT they dont space the bar far enough away from my reversed dish wheels i have

any more ideas chaps

Drill and tap the side of the ring to take a bolt?

needs to keep the rounded shape so that its always that distance wherever you angle the legs due to uneven floors etc , plus you use both sides of the leg

Get a couple of larger diameter rings turned up. There are plenty on here who could knock you a couple out on a lathe.
