Any enduro/mx rider ?

You are still lucky , here in Italy enduro is completely illegal ( only fim races are allowed on certain lands with huge restrictions ) , but , well , nobody cares , everyone rides everywhere .
Government does not have enough money to pay forester corps , so we ride as much as we want .

Fc250 here. Fantastic bike! I've found the biggest factor in riding is having a few mates that also ride! My riding mate has moved down south and others have grown out of riding but I'm going to make an effort this year! I have been wondering if a road registered enduro might get more use though?!!

Check out your local TRF group and get a road reg enduro or trail bike and get out on the green lanes

Had a few nice bikes over the years from a brutal Husky, through MT500 & 350 to trail type bikes like the KLR, DT KE but I've never really got on with 'proper' off road riding. No particular reason that I can think of, just don't enjoy it as much as road riding. Green lanes can be great entertainment, but I haven't ridden a green lane for donkey's years.

@Ged93 Yea the trf is "trail rider fellowship" big laning club in the UK.
Yep the red gasgas is mine.
The black husky is mine also
As is the bultaco.
The talaria is a works bike but used for lanes.

Why’s that?

In 1990 approx. a socialist/comunist government made a national law in order to make us , dirt riders , outlawers , why ? Because they decided enduro bikes are not environment friendly , they said we destroy lands and we pollute the air , but tractors and cars are allowed , funny isn'it ?
I've seen a hill completely destroyed from tractors used by wood cutters , welcome in Italy .

We do pay taxes on our bikes , gear , equipment , gasoline ... ( 22% of vat tax , sirs ) , so I am damn free to ride on public lands , forests , rivers and so on , catch me if you can forester !
Countries like Austria and Romania recognized how much money enduro races could bring ( have you ever heard about Erzberg Rodeo or Romaniacs ? ) , while they keep making money , we lose time with stupid laws .

I've wanted to do that for a couple of years now but dont want to spend 3k on a bike, they do hold their prices!

We were Husqvarna dealers when BMW owned them.

They brought out the TE 511 where the front sprocket was in alignment with the swing arm pivot iirc. Designed to keep constant chain tension.

Went on a few main dealer training courses and they were held at BMW head office, you had to drive through their Golf Course to get to main reception.

A bus to drive you to their "canteen", which was basically a 5 storey hotel where every floor was a different food theme. Absolutely insane really..

Ironically KTM bought them out, now exactly the same bikes with different paint stickers..

I think it all started to go wrong with the easy availability of useable Off Road bikes when any numpty could have a great time destroying the countryside and hacking off the populace without a thought . Also the actual umber of riders increased to a situation where the countryside could no longer cope and the lanes didn't recover . I started in the early 60's and we all had to build/modify a machine to ride off road and even then the reliability ,or lack of. meant that only dedicated riders would have a go. The days of put down a deposit on Saturday and thrash the lanes on Sunday without any form of knowledge or care had yet to arrive. We usually belonged to a local m/c club and anyone potentially rocking the boat for the others were given a talking to and the transgressions stopped. Then we add the 4x4's and it has just got to the point when we will go the way of the likes of Italy. It's no use saying" I'll ride where I want to" as that is exactly the attitude that has led to where we are now, The police are well aware of the situation and not going to let an easy nick go wanting for long. lets face it the easy days in most things are over no matter what we want.

The number of places to play, has vastly reduced in our life times. Old pit heaps were great play grounds, no longer, also far more folk out snd about in the country than before with far more eco view points, all part of the change of society

If you want to have an enjoyable day or so with the added frisson of a bit of competition then there are quite a few long distance trials during the year from the 24 hr MCC events to the long distance trials with a under 100 miles but with sections to sort out the winners. Have a look on You Tube for MCC Exeter , Land End , Edinburgh trials or on Facebook Classical Gas which caters for both2/3 4 wheels. I hate to say this but the average age of competitors is in the " over 21 " range.

I'll ride where I want to

Well I have to say we are absolutely respectful , we do not leave rubbish around and we do not digg the terrain like hell , we simply ride and enjoy it .

Unfortunately there are always some stupid persons who rides on private fields , or wheeling around the towns or whatever .

Last sunday me and my dad were riding in a forest that we knew , beautiful place , after a while we came out and at a certain point a car came and stopped , the man inside jumped out and took a photo of us with his phone .
We do not use license plate , and that's one of the reasons , we were doing nothing bad , we didn't hurt anybody , and he took a photo of us ... why ???
I could have stopped , could take his phone with brute force and smash it , but we are good guys , so we didn't take care of him .
In the past some others shouted to us , others tried to throw us random objects , others just looked at us like we were terrorists .

Life got more complicated , people is getting more unsatisfied and prefer to waste time getting angry with others instead of enjoying things and places .

You did nothing wrong EXCEPT you broke the law which some people think is wrong. Why do you think that the law doesn't apply to you ? If we all did that then anarchy would reign.

Same for 4x4's, used to be a close knit community where lanes were respected but last 10yrs or so it's got considerably worse

People just want to go out and fling mud around, trash the lanes, drive off piste and **** off everyone then publish their antics on social media for all to see
