Any Computer Boffins Around ?

I have taken the hard drive out of my pooped laptop and i need to get a caddy to connect it to my pc, question is does anyone know which one ?

The hard drive is an ata if that means anything to anyone ?

why a caddy, I just use a lead, here's one clicky.

you need an ata to usb adaptor or caddy
ata is also known as ide

maplins should be able to assist

You can connect using spare connector(s) inside the case [remember to set the jumpers on the laptop drive to "slave"].

I've done this with no problems in the past for diagnosis on the 'spare' hard-drive.

Once connected, you should be able to access the laptop drive by clicking on "My Computer" where it'll have been assigned a drive letter e.g. G

Laptop hard drives have a different fitting to PC ones. Ebay do the adaptors for a few quid.

What's up with the lappy? Most problems I've found have been bad memory modules.

cheers peeps, i was thinking a caddy so i can use it as an external, i was just confused wether it was a sata or ide, cheers anyway i think i'm on the right track now
