Any Builders Or Groundworkers Advice Needed

I have a problem where rainfall is gathering against the side of my garage, this is then seeping through the brickwork and into my garage which is then constantly damp and eating my expensive tools

I know i need to improve the runoff of water as the idiot who lived here before me blocked it with the fencepost / concrete but i was wondering is there any way i can stop the water coming through the wall as the rain drives directly into it anyway

Would painting the inside of the garage help or am i peeing up a rope ?

Again any help or ideas would be most appreciated

Yeah i've been thinking of that but don't really know the best way of doing it

As a quick and easy fix try a silicone treatment , such as thompsons waterseal , should stop the rain soaking thru .

Cut a channel 2-4" wide down the side of the wall, and fill with pea gravel.

only real soluton is get it drained, is water pooling there?

Yeah it does i get about a 2ft wide puddle there, when it rains heavily i'm usually out sweeping the water away

spray the wall with thompsons water seal it worked on our shed to stop the rain coming through
but i'd also put a length of eco channels along the wall of the shed to stop the water pooling there
and use the plastic eco channel if no cars are travelling on it. as the galv one rust after a copule of years (talking from experience)

Concrete sloping towards the wall, that was never going to work without putting in drainage along the edge. Id dig out a strip of the concrete and fit a drain channel. Then when the wall has dried out seal it aswell.

Yeah tell me about it, it's shocking really, then to top it off by putting a post where the water needs to get out

Those London bricks are like sponges so I would bitumen the bottom of the wall when it dries out as well as with some tanking mastic.

thompsons water seal is ok for waterproofing bricks but hasnt to be used below dpc to the ground

The pea gravel/ french drain might not work, around our way the houses are often built on clay, it will just fill with water and not move. so unless you can positively drain it away it won't work. :-(

Waterproof the brick work on the outside will help but might not completely solve as the water will track through the concrete, or as mentioned the ground is that wet it will get drawn up.

By way of example, on my house after it has rained the brick work above and below the dramp proof is different colour. Perched water table on top of clay.

Yeah i'm sure the ground here is clay too, i was thinking of just cutting a channel, putting some plastic tubing in to channel the water away and then waterproofing or sealing the wall

Aco drain along the bottom of the wall and obviously soemwhere for ity to drain to.
Also bitumen paint a few course of the brick to waterproof it?
