My vote is sweet chestnut for the chairs.

I feel that they're reproduction and elm would be expensive. The, I don't know what it's called, border between the growth rings, looks more rough / textured and I've noticed that on chestnut but not elm.

I know very little about this stuff though.

The table is oak. The medullary rays are visible on the underside.

Pop back there in a week and see if the dealer has an identical set for sale!
As with most things in life, it's all about enjoying it and you wouldn't have bought it if you didn't like it.

I looked for a rose/thistle makers mark and came up with Royal Oak, so less than 30 years old.

The chairs are definitely ours but the table we are not so sure about. It looks like it could be but it’s a bespoke table if it is, everything looks right but we can’t remember doing the rails at the bottom of the table in that style on that type of table. If it’s ours it will have a rose.

It all looks in very good condition.

Well that's a result, their chairs are ~ £500 each, and say at least £1000 for the table, so £5k to the original buyer. Sold to me for £1600.

There is far too much flat surface going to waste, the table would be ideal for an Ender 3 and the chairs can be used for PLA filament.
