IIRC the Metro had fully metric wheels and tyres but it didn't catch on.I'm fine with both and car tyre measurements use both plus percentage, ie 185mm 65% X 15 inch
Anyone else get fed up with Imperial measurements?
Not sure if it's an age thing!![]()

For a while in the states, I think it was the 70s,the engine of a car was Metric and the body fasteners were Imperial.
Just use whatever wrench fits.
sometimes a ton of fuel is 1000kg, sometimes it’s half that!!

Problem is now no one has any idea of imperial. When someone walks in and asks for something 5 foot long there's lots of blank looks.
My first response is always ...."what's that in English?"
Mostly followed by them saying "that is bloody English "

We had a Dutch guy on the pitch next door when camping in France, he started on about us & imperial measurements. I asked him what size were the wheels on his car, "err 15 inch" what size was the drive on his socket set in the boot, " err half inch drive" then I explained to him about dividing fractions in half for woodworm 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 & so on, it was easy & he realised he'd lost the argument. Made I larf as they say.I'm fine with both and car tyre measurements use both plus percentage, ie 185mm 65% X 15 inch
we have metric tyres - but imperial rims.If You'all have Imperial tire sizes over there, Some one has it round about as I've got Metric over here, have not seen an Imperial size in 25 years.
Don't forget the Yarn.Yes, an inch-the width of your thumb, a foot-the length of your foot, a yard-the length of a mans stride.
