I couldn't find a suitable place to ask this, looking at the diverse topics in here already, I think I'm in the clear....
One of the concerns raised, particularly since DAB+ receivers were installed in vehicles, is antenna signal strength. Most vehicle manufacturers simplify diagnosis by providing some form of signal strength measurement for each antenna, Mercedes do not. Nor do they have any method of diagnosing, other than referring to 'commercially available equipment'. Now, I've managed so far with a combination of FLIR camera, Picoscope and having a damn good look for damaged antennas on the glass, we're getting more & more issues where the above isn't enough and, despite some of the other tech's swapping out parts from sales cars to 'test' the change in reception, I'd rather do it by 'proper' diagnosis. Now, I don't mind spending a bit but i'm not going to spend a few £k on something that I won't get a return on investment on before I retire, so, inevitably, I've been looking at some of the chinesium stuff on Amazon.
This seems to be one of the better ones https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B081JVP5Z5
This is cheaper, a smaller screen (not sure if it'd give any meaningful data without a magnifying glass though) but seems similar https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08LSQN33F
Am I looking at the right sort of thing? are they a waste of money? Is there anything you know of that would do the job better?
Thanks.
