Hope all goes well with your treatment and you get cleared of cancer. I had bladder cancer operated on a few years ago and had a catheter for a while (now removed) and have to go for cystoscopy which is good because it had reoccurred last year and was again removed and I had chemo for 6 weeks but it's clear again now. I am back to annual check up. (The camera up your pipe is a bit daunting but you get used to it) so just bear with whatever they are doing and think lucky.

Hi mate. Whats it like with the catheter and bag ,does it stop you doing anything, is it uncomfortable?

It was a bit weird at first but soon got used to it. Draining the leg bag was odd and I had one on a stand for the side of the bed at night which you had to connect an extended tube to. I had the bag on the inside of right ankle during the day and it was a bit of a pain to keep emptying it but not uncomfortable and walking about was no trouble although I was not doing much as I was a bit fed up.

Just a quick update, had a meeting with the surgeon and it turns out the MRI did show up something on my spine.
I now have to have a bone scan to rule out chance the cancer having spread to my spine although the surgeon thinks it should be ok as the other tests say its still contained in the prostate.
If all is ok he will remove the prostate,some tissue and some other bits which I will no longer need !!

Thats all my bone and CT scans done and everthing is ok, the cancer has not spread so the next step is an op to remove the prostate, some tissue and some other bits and pieces the surgeon said I dont need any more !!
The op is due to take place on 13th March so that gives me time to try and clear up any outstanding jobs I have to do as I wont be able to do much for a while, going to be stuck at home for about six weeks.

Hi, very encouraging news thats its not spread, hope everything goes well and I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you, make sure you have a good chat with your surgeon as his definition of what "bits and pieces you don't need" and yours may vary somewhat take it easy and keep positive.

Hi all
Just an update on my op,have now been in hospital for four weeks now instead of the one week that was planned.
Have had major complications, the op took twice as long as normal,six hours, and then when the staples were removed the wound opened up.
So hopefully I might get home this week but will need nursing care at home and a very long recovery period, thats my summer project postponed.

Finally got home on monday but still very weak and hurting.

Just to continue my run of bad luck my son David was one of the people injured in the rally crash at the weekend
He is in hospital in Aberdeen with two broken legs but they hope to transfer him back to a local hospital next week

Glad to hear your home, but sorry to hear about the complications and your son's accident, take it easy and I wish you both a speedy and full recovery.

I'm 64 & a half, & reading this thread makes me feel better. I'm a bit deaf.have been for many years. Had two hernia operations 20 years apart. Still got all my own teeth (i keep em in a box,must get rid of em one day) Apart from that.The only thing i suffer from is-----er, i forget.

It knocks you up having anything like that done, hope you both make good recoveries. Tell him to stop throwing himself at the scenery in future and you keep resting till you can get back into the fray.

Well here we go again, I have to go back into hospital cos the docs think I have a hole between my colon and my bladder.
Plus I have been told the cancer was outside the prostate as well and I will need some form of follow up treatment (chemo or radiotherapy) but I cant get that until everything else is ok.
Feeling a bit down at the moment plus I was supposed to be going to GoodwoodFOS but I am not fit enough.
