Slowly sorting through my father's old tools, found these, I'm guessing that they are electrical and probably RAF but any idea what they are for?

expander for fitting rubber sleeving over cable outer sheath ends stop them fraying cloth braded flex like on old ironsor covering joints in cables can be slid along the wire in days before heat shrink sleeving was invented

Used to use them for something when assembling L60 tank engines, can't remember what. There was a strange Hellermann lubricant used to make them slide off the rubber, smelt like cheap scent. Castration pliers for fitting rubber rings to lambs testicles or tails (to dock them) are almost identical.

Putting rings on racing pigeons legs was done with something very similar to that.

Hellermann Pliers.
Used to open up tge pink rubber sleeves in Multi way plugs.

Plessy Style plugs is the type Ex service people will know them off.

The oil what was meant to be used for them will have you running for the small room.

Hellermann, use Hellarine lubricant.

A colleague used to called it banana oil

I've used similar for fitting O rings on hydraulic cylinders...

Place I worked at used them for sleeving over lucar crimp terminals. They were referred to as de-virginising pliers! Not seen any in years.

I just this minute broke one of the “legs” of my current pair.

To say I’m slightly miffed would be a massive understatement! I might have said one or two rude words! Loudly!

Mine are (were?) similar to the third ones in that link (the blue ones), but they don't have replaceable jaws. Mine are just pressed in somehow. I might look into getting a set or replaceable jaws and drilling my one ones out. I expect I'll find that they are as hard as hell once I start drilling, but what have I got to lose?

I had a pair and they disappeared, very handy. Luckily I found another pair since in a garage clearance.
