Used to use them to put rubber sleeving on the end of braided wire to stop it fraying. Used to tell the new lads they were used in the clap clinic! Talk about deer in headlights!

I just this minute broke one of the “legs” of my current pair.
To say I’m slightly miffed would be a massive understatement! I might have said one or two rude words! Loudly!
Mine are (were?) similar to the third ones in that link (the blue ones), but they don't have replaceable jaws. Mine are just pressed in somehow. I might look into getting a set or replaceable jaws and drilling my one ones out. I expect I'll find that they are as hard as hell once I start drilling, but what have I got to lose?
