As per title, going through some junk boxes and this has me stumped, I think it's some kinda arbor but not sure, taper is MT3

Is it something useful before it gets repurposed, possibly into a tail stock die holder?

Nope, just plain, opposite end has been drilled for a centre

Arbor for gear cutting using a dividing head (3mt) and tail stock...

Could also be an arbor for a thin slitting saw blafe

thats fine with me indy and thankyou wasnt even expecting that either

it was just a cheeky comment due to me having a funny mt3 milling machine which has a short mt3 tapper on it

looking at it.....I'd be thinking of modifying it to make a light tail stock die holder......that dog clutch would be quite handy backing off and undoing the die.........
