I find it easier in this situation to not bother trying to reverse in a straight line and instead pick a long curve to get to your final situation
Not always possible but with a bit of thought makes reversing small trailers a smoother experience as you keep the back corner in sight of the same wing mirror
I find it easier to lower the jockey wheel, unhook the chain and lift the short trailer off the towball and push it to where I want it.
