I asked about tiling a while back - i was told to get "hardy backer board" (done)
Next two questions...
The backer board - local place sells it in 1200x800x6mm sheets (which i bought 2-off) and then realized a single board covered the area fine, but only if i chop it about.
Is this acceptable or not?
Its not really so much money, but just the massive waste of chopping up and then disposing of a whole board just to remove the joins (id need one join anyway) - but i dont know about it - am i going to get fractures on the joins?
This is going onto a wooden wall.
In the diagram above, the area is in yellow, the joins are in white.
Using two boards gives me this -
So its not like i dont get a join whatever, but i waste a whole board in the second layout.
So thats the first question.
Second question -
Apparently these are the tiles -
That sheet is about 12x12 (inches) with 2" squares.
That choice is final. Im aware that other tiles are easier to clean etc.etc.etc Whatever... again, those are the tiles being used. Done deal.
How do i edge them?
I was assuming some quarter round that would bridge the edge of the hardy backer board, but that seems nowhere to be seen.
The backer board is 6mm, i assume, what, 1mm for adhesive, and then the tiles with their mesh backing are about 11mm. So, what, 18mm total to bridge / cover?
So i was thinking 18mm quarter round, but all the supplier seems to carry is this -
Ive had a look about and found quarter round at b&q of all places, but everywhere else seems to be selling the bull nose stuff, so i feel like its probably me missing something / not knowing what im doing?
Ive been instructed to complete this task prior to Christmas guests arriving....
Thank you.
