Eldest son called me earlier on today with a strange plumbing issue which happened a few hours before.
They have a combi system which is working fine in all respects, but when running a bath, the maximum temperature out of the hot tap is just about 40c (body heat) max. For all the other taps in the house, as well as the shower, it works absolutely fine with loads of hot water. Flow on all sides is unaffected.
I’ve asked him to see if there are any in line ball valves any where (like in a cupboard) that could have been knocked and upset the balance, but this wouldn’t necessarily explain the low temperature performance, would it?
The only thing I can think of is that cross flow occurring from the cold side to the hot, in the body of the mixer taps, causing over cooling of the hot side.
I’ll ask him for a picture of the bath tap arrangement to see if that helps with the diagnosis.
Thanks as always for any help.
