Another sip wire issue!

hi all first post be gentle! iv aquired a older type sip migmate 150 turbo with the grey and black push in buttons on front only problem is the wire speed is constant i have cleaned the potentiometer and tried adjusting the trim pot which does nothing??any ideas?thanks

sounds like the transistor on the board may have gone short circuit

New transistor in place and diode resistors measure fine but wire still belting out with no control!!

DrNik has a SIP 130 controller board for sale for £20 in the "Used Equipment for sale" section. May be worth a £20 punt to see whether it works with your unit.

Unfortunately its different to mine i have the board marked mig03a thinking of a pwm controller and seperate supply is this a viable option?

Check the components again, ignor the diode if the motor runs its fine.

Look at the diagram on this page http://www.eddiem.com/projects/mig/speedfix.html.

Full speed indicates shorted transistor or full base drive to the transitor.
If the TIP35C tests ok, check the trim pot first as oc trimpot would give full type of problem.

Managed to pick up a 130 slightly different to mine have changed the bits over and it works but only have the 130 transformer is it just a case of putting my bigger 150 in there?

Would have to fit transformer and choke from the 150, also count the number of diodes on rectifier plates if the same number no problem if less you will also have to change the rectifier over.
Slight problem a 150 will not be 13A.

Also does the 150 have same number of power selections ? If not then you will need to transfer the selector switch as well!
If it's for car body work then keep as is.
Just tuck the 150 in the corner for parts, that way when I need a transformer i know where to come
Failing that out the parts on ebay. You know the motor works !!
Where in Sunny Bristol are you, I'm in South watching the planes flying by

Haha yes case and selectors are the same just the transformer is noticably larger!im in weston super mare
