Dont think mine has anything like that power but the part that concerns me the most,for now apart from the going into limp mode, is the vibration/rumbling engine noise as speed increases UNDER LOAD. IT does not do this when stationary or under no load.

What hp is yours 110? I have driven qiut a few and they are slow compared to mine.
Have you tried the off on fix to get rid of the limp mode? try it, that would confirm we poss have same fault in that respect.
Are you getting the noise vib all the time or just worse when in limp.
Because these have another wonderful invention 'THE DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL' which, can,--- no WILL, vib /rattle etc at some point in its life!and I have seen them get a lot worse when an engine has a fault due to the engine running imbalanced.
My mate who runs a gear box centre says his main work now is not gear boxes, its dual masses and many is the time, the actual clutch plates are still good !
He cannot believe mine has done 160000mls and not had one
ps I have looked after this car from 12 mths old (the car not me!)

Right I just been out in mine and wound down the windows, ran it for 1/2 mile steady, then gave it a little more throttle as soon as she started to boost there was a slight light 'tinney' rattley sound and then NO boost kept my foot on the throttle in gear, switched off n on, the noise stopped and it was immediatley there pulling like a train, I then ran it steady, let it warm through,then took it out on a 'private road' and it was reving out to max 4500 red line in every gear, I only took it to 100mph, but it would have gone more.
ps on normal running she gives around 38 mpg on a long run 50 mpg
approx 160,000 mls n 2 cam belts will need 3rd soon

When I have time and an assistant I will run mine with the laptop connected on 'live data' and check the running but it does not do it every time.
Mine is also TDred eye 130 model and the noise does not occur when in limp mode as there is not enough of whatever is causing the problem happening I feel. It may be boost/escaping air/oscillation /dual mass/sensor whatever.
I do suspect its a combination. My son fitted a new clutch a while back and immediately after I felt a slight vibration that seemed to not be there prior to new clutch. We have suspected the dual mass, and the vibration showing up with new clutch but not old one for some reason. There was a bit of play in the dual mass but not a great deal. I have only just gone past a 100,000 miles.
If I do the same as you and switch of and back on again when it goes into limp mode it does reset and has full power.
Strangely it seems even more like yours as when I set of to collect my welder from Gloucester, which is about 45 miles away it went into limp mode several times on the way, BUT only once ,which was a few miles out of Gloucester on the way back. It seems like its better when its warmed up. Less likely to trip into limp mode.
I have just purchased USB VAG lead so intend to do some research soon but we are putting a recovery back/beaver tail on our T4 truck this week.
Thats sounds exactly like mine. but mine has only done just over 100.000 miles. Once I get it running Ok I guess I will need to shell out on a dual mass. I will change my MAP sensor again and see if it alters anything.
THis could well be the case as the inlet manifold wa appalling with over 1/2 an inch of coke all over it. I took it of and removed it all and bead blasted it totally clean. I intend to fit a EGR replacement when I get a flange cut so I can weld it up.
Also my turbo to intercooler pipe has been slipt for some time and added to my chip I used to have fitted I think its been over fuling for some time . I will have to take turbo off and clean it all out soon as well then lol
Oh well my son still has a spare 1800 metro I can use while its on my ramp. lol

You talkin egr or cat? coz if the egr you dont usually replace them you just fit a solid blanking gasket, I usually use some very thin stainless. But the cat is usually a replacment pipe, unless by some strange occurance all the honeycombe has fell out

Going back to egr's I have done a few blanks on 1.9 tdi's some you get away with, and some put the man. lgt on due to the ecu 'working out' that it's not actually allowing the exhaust gas through into the inlet manifold, even though the egr is still operating through its full range and the feedback 'pot' is reporting correctly back to the ecu, but it works out there is blockage in the stainless tranfer pipe (well there is!
) you can put the lgt out but it comes back on after about 50mls once it has done an 'average' reading.---? ( methinks too much 'coke' )

I am talking EGR as I think mine is sticking . If I use manual hand vacuum it starts to move and then stops and then release and moves fully.
I read somewhere mine should be ok with the light.
not sure why as I have read so much just lately. lolJust looking up about egr removal as I have seen one with a pipe. Think it was allard not sure yet though.

Usually its whether or not the engine has a mass air flow sensor. If the egr valve is being used by the ecu it shows a reduction in mass air flow, blocking the pipework will prevent this offset at the MAFM.
Its such a minefield diagnosing cars, especially with no useful DTC's.

Don't I know it, thats why its good to compare notes, its hard to find someone that has 'the knowledge' and is willing to apply their brain to some thing odd, and is willing to think 'outside the box' because the answer is sometimes very deep.
I watch air crash confidential all the time and those guys sometimes take YEARS to come up with the answer but keep dogidly on untill they find the cause of the crash they are investigating and the 'track' can be so convelluted sometimes MANY small problems sometimes yrs old that all work together to conclude in a catastrofic accident.

I seem to spend half my time being a detective trying to get the truth out of car & bike owners as to what they have done or who has attempt a repair beforehand. Lack of maintenance is another problem as cars have become more reliable over the years and people just drive them until they break down or the Mot brings them your way.

I have just spoken to Frank my turbo man and there is 3 dif turbos fitted to our cars he says it is the time of year he has done 5 since new year !!
He said 'I think its the cold weather'
, that would be spot on with my diagnoses because it has def got worse in last few mths and as the turbo goes through its extreme temp change the vanes stick causing over boost the MAP senses overboost and then you get limp mode, I have also noticed an increased fuel con. heres a quote from a dif forum
Now since I have given it a 'GOOD THRASHING' (like Basil Faulty) it has been absolutly fine, I have heard if you run on Kero and 30% cooking oil (on a private road of cause) and give it a good thrashing it can clean them. Erbespacher heaters recon to burn kero to de coke their heaters from time to time, maybe worth a go?
I think this is causing our Turbo probs but also exasperating your poss dual mass prob. If my DM goes I think I will convert to SM.
