Another missing plane.

I suppose not, except the video implies that they use augmented reality, point the phone at a plane and get a pop up of its details and click through to the flight path maps etc. I will have a play with it on the phone, I expect I will cough up the $5 before long.

All 3 have been the same airline, my old ma n is plane daft - ex raf. He was saying one of his mates flew aur Malaysia and in there in flight leaflet it told passengers not be alarmed that their pilots are young as they are good at training which speeds up the process. Firstly, why would you put a statement like that in your literature and I like to see an experienced pilot flying such crafts. 2 of the 3 where pilot errors, this one the guy increased altitude to avoid weather as opposed to desensitise like he should have. Young pilot with insufficient experience. Tragic

Not sure that's true, I think the first 2 were Malaysian airlines this is air Asia? The one that went missing no one actually knows what happened and the second that got shot down was no doubt a tragic accident but I don't think has been attributed to pilot error.

I think it's a bit early to tell on this one as yet!!

Bad form to quote myself but, I just tried the phone with out an app and it will show live positions of planes and give airline and flight number but that's all folks, it knows you are on a mobile devise and pushes you to the app store if you want more details, info, flight path etc.

An AirAsia Zest plane carrying 159 people overshot the runway and got stuck in a muddy field Tuesday at an international airport in the central Philippines after landing from Manila in windy weather, officials said.

They actually have an excellent safety record, though as you say events this week may have sent that down a tad!

Young pilots, they should be cutting the teeth on cesnars then doing internal flights then going onto the big stuff. Or ex military pilots who have the best training. You need considerable experience to handle the big stuff, that's the problem. They think they have a training scheme better than anyone else's which doesn't seem possible. The yanks have/had the same problem with young pilots, watch Michael Moore ' capatilism documentary - the point was highlighted and backed up by experienced pilots after a spate of crashes involving over worked minimum wage pilots.

w had a 60% increase in accidents involving hgv when the market got flooded with minimum wage, poorly trained drivers coming over from the eastern block. It wasn't our lot involved in the accidents, but they didn't highlight it as certain people where making a lot of money at the expense of our safety.

I think the air Asia pilot had > 20000 hours of flying experience, I'm not sure that qualifies him as "inexperienced"!!

Yes the pilot was not a youngster at all and was very experienced, Air Asia in fact has one of the greatest safety records per passengers carried/number of flights, beating most other Airlines.

When disasters like this happen, armchair experts always come out with the cause, long before any investigation publishes the real reason.

The air France disaster a few years back was a prime example, all sorts of ideas around and only when the recorders were recovered did the full story emerge which turned out to be a series of events that could hardly have been imagined.
