Another milling vise thread

I hope @Dennis Aspö will forgive this slight diversion , but I have a [normal-style] vise with those holes along the lower edges - how do you clamp them to a machine table for milling etc?

There is a recessed slot cut in the ends for clamping. Some vices have the slot running in a longitudinal direction.
