Hi to all!

Nigel here in Mid-Wales

Found this forum invaluable as I am looking for a new or secondhand mig set.

General farm type welding and I want to make a couple of wood burning stoves for the house / studio.

Been trawling eBay for a week or so now. I'd love something like a butters
180 amp (ebay item 110324460747) or similar but a bit pricey for my pocket.

Maybe a used equipment for sale section would be handy..

oops! I've just seen the used kit section...

i can't post there as yet because I've only just this minute registered (hurry up!)

I've got a "GreenGas 1500" with only 24 hours run.

Not suitable for running my 2.9l Sierra on as it's a really dodgy business compressing
the stuff.

Does anyone here even know what it is?

havent got a clue what your on about but more importantly is your seirra a 4x4

yeah I had a couple of sierra XR 4x4's, lots of fun!
now I have Mondeo GhiaX 2.5 v6, quicker still..

The Welder I refered to is what is known as a "water welder"
'cos you just put in water and it electrolyses it into a oxygen / hydrogen mix.
Called "Browns Gas" or "Green Gas" it has many unusual properties.

I thought i'd make a (road) tax free fuel to quench it's drinking problem
but as I stated it's a bit tricky to compress & store, particularly in a XR4x4
going mostly sideways...

Re welders, I can reccomend the Butters 180amp thingy. I have been using mine for coming up three years, a nice machine to use. I spent ages trawling around for a grown up welder after my ancient Clark thing died, Butters seem to be the entry level Pro machine, ie copper wound transformers, proper eurotorch etc.

lol we have similar taste !!! iv had a couple of mk2 escorts and always fancied a good xr4x4

and thanks for the knowledge ! i feel a bit more aware now .
