If you have a good earth from the DNO, it’s going to a much lower impedance than the earth rod and any earth current will go that way before the rod, marking the rod pointless.
and if there earth isnt so good which some old ones aren't after testing you then make it a tt supply fit an rcd and then you need the earth rod ive only come across 3 bad ones in 47 yearsIf you have a good earth from the DNO, it’s going to a much lower impedance than the earth rod and any earth current will go that way before the rod, marking the rod pointless.
Yea I watched half of it and gave up at the point where he carefully selects the correct colours for the wiring....but then he draws the outbuilding in blue and the ground outside the building in brown....
if you aren't interested in knowing get an electrician
Yea that's basically what I did !....my issue with the video is that he seems to overcomplicate something that is essentially quite simple.
My house has a 100A supply....it was fitted with an earth which is appropriate to that supply (whatever the earth type) hence in my mind that is the most appropriate earth to use? All my plumbing is already bonded at the main board to said earth....and my electrician fitted the SWA cable and earthed it at the main board.
Granted parts of the out building which are metal could or maybe should be bonded....but how many metal garage doors have you ever seen with earth bonding?
