Wow again, the pool of obscure knowledge on this forum is amazing.
I'm not as old as he was but I remember table tennis nets, the clamps weren't half as robust as those.A member thought they were used to hold table tennis nets "Back in his youth"
As he is in his 90's it was a few days ago.
its a cheap copy of a reliance drill sharpener pretty hard to master using them but good once you get away with them
I considered that then kinda discounted it as I couldn't see how it would fit on a grinder, I never thought of bench mounting it, doh! It's a drill sharpening device that screws to the bench beside the grinder. It's quite complex but I have the instructions somewhere if you want a copy.
I was taught to never to use the side of a bench grinding wheel, I'll stick to sharpening them by hand, I'm reasonably okay at it for the most common sizes I use 3mm to 12mm, less than that I tend to just get a new bit and bigger sizes might take me a couple of goes to get it right. I used to work with an old boy who could sharpen bits perfectly, the 1/16" bits he did would fly through stainless like it was cheese. You don't want to be using too much pressure on the side of a grinding wheel.
As much as I dislike seeing anything thrown out I will now not be saving it from the bin if/when the boss decides to sling it then.Throwing in the bin.
Google is the answer, my son...Maybe someone should explain to those members under 50 what a mangle is!
