This is why I changed to the Chinese copy ones.

I have 5 now. Slitting disc, Grinding disc, Flap Wheel, Poly Abrasive and wire wheel.

All 5 still cost me less than 1 Makita brushless grinder. They go sub £20 if you keep an eye on them.

I have put them through some pretty serious abuse and still haven't had one fail.

That’s good to know. Do they do Milwaukee ones do you know? I used to have about 3/4 grinders with different things on but since a battery one I just have the one as I don’t like the wires

Ive never seen any copies of the 18V range other than Makita.

There are a few of the Milwaukee 12V ones.

I guess you could always buy a few of the battery adaptors for <£10 and run the Makita Clones

I can't get them that small because the guard gets in the way, it must be a Scottish thing

I got sick of losing them, and having too many tools lying around on the bench, so over the years and several revisions have optimised this multi tool.

bend up bit of 5mm rod to suit grinder nut, wee bit of 10mm square bar, a 6mm nail, 2 minutes welding..

Then you have a grinder disc undooooer... a cleaner for mig torch the square bar taking the rubble off the tip, and the other end (nail head) for raking down inside to get rid of the spatter, and a key for the chuck on the welding positioner... all in one, cost naff all, scrap offcuts, 2 minutes with the mig.. job done..

perfect size to sit on the magnetic torch holder too, so I always know where it is..

Recently purchased a Makita to replace an ancient B&D that finally bit the dust. I also have an older Makita & the two pronged spanner is far superior to the one that came with the new Makita, fortunately the old key fits the newer grinder.

If you're gronking the nut down so tight it bends the spanner, I'd worry about crushing the center of the disc!

I've resisted the pull of the Fakeita grinders for so long, but I gave up this morning and ordered one from Ebay

They will never unscrew, as the design won't allow it...

They do. Be careful with heavier steel discs as on a diamond blade. They have some weight to them and Ive had them fly off, going sone distance, when spinning down even when fully tightened with spanner. I use the spanner on all discs.

One feature I like of the lidl grinder is spanner storage in the handle, I dont know if others do but saves a lot of effort looking for it.

I just went for the cheapest 125mm variable speed brushless that was in-country.

You need to be a little careful. There are a lot of Chinese designed ones that fit Makita batteries and are utter rubbish.

The ones that look identical to the new Makita brushless grinders appear to be the only ones with any real quality and seem to just be a Makita with the badges removed.

Hi, The Chinese can turn out both good and bad stuff. It maybe the company making the machines for Makita and they decide to make extras and just re-badge them, others look at them and say we can make lookalikes cheaper. The trick is telling or knowing the difference.

Aye that's what I went for
I think the fake ones must all come from the same factory (or at least design office) as the speed control and battery indicator is identical to my Fakeita impact wrench. (another tool I felt dirtied for buying, but I wanted a light duty ugga-dugga....

I now use the Milwaukee version on all my grinders, not often you need to use the peg spanner to undo these. There is still the two peg holes under the tab if you need them

Put an S bend in the key so it sits flat on the disc nut and then clears the guard , and you will have no probs.
