Here in Italy motor driven welder were very popular .From 1935. Modern welding machines don’t have the same class as four iron wheels on a wooden trolley!
four iron wheels on a wooden trolley!
Powered by a 35hp motor
Must have needed a big supply in the day! Gather they’re American with a speed of 1800rpm?
the spot welder has quite impressive specs too, two half inch plates capacity and 3.5t. Don’t make them like that anymore!!!
Everyone say thatNice to weld off those dynamo welders
same as the Lincoln bullet welders
That's amazing ,I couldn't imagine that before.Well think about it this way you’ve got a huge 35hp 3~ motor running a big copper dynamo, outputting a very smooth DC arc. No power fluctuations, no electrical noise from circuitry, doesn’t matter how much you push the rod into the metal the power is there to keep the arc burning.
I can’t remember if it was the BOC machines or the Lincoln bullet welders but I think they were similar to the engine drives in that you can obtain different arc characteristics based on what amperage range you set with a course and fine adjustment that overlaps so you could be on 2nd gear, 70% and get 100A or 3rd gear and 30% also getting 100A but with a completely different arc characteristic
