It's not a New Thread really and don't all shout at once but i have decided to follow Bump and apparently, most others, down the route of supplying the wire feed with a separate traffo/bridge power supply. I removed the PCB to inspect it and when i reconnected it, (before the mod), i must have got the S and the T cable connections on CN2 mixed up when I refitted it. Both are blue cables and I thought both came from the neutral side of the main switch!
R was OK coz its red! When I switched the power back on and pressed the torch the main breaker in the house tripped. Can't find anything wrong with the PCB but now the cooling fan comes on but no wire feed. Thats the first problem. I havent yet had a chance to get the Fluke out to check the PCB under power nor if the wire feed motor gets power but most of the components seem OK when tested after removal from the board. I haven't completed the checks to the board yet but what could have failed?
This MIG 04 doesn't have a trim-pot for the speed so if i have actually fried it, can I replace it with a MIG 05 board? Thats the second question!
Thanks for helping!
