An Inexplicably Stupid Tyre Inflator

So what’s the hive minds thoughts on this?

I treated myself to a nicer tyre inflator but the stupid this leaks like a sieve as soon as you depress the plunger.
Why would you machine a flat on a plunger that lets as much air out through the gap as comes out of the hose?

Seems odd but I would guess you need to press it in further to get past the flat that maybe there to let air out to deflate the tyre.

as above, half press to deflate and full monty to inflate, maybe some swarf in the valve

That’s a good point and I suppose it saves them money on adding a second button for deflating.

PCL Inflaters are the same. Half press to deflate, full press to inflate. Simple, effective.

If I was going to buy a tyre inflator for a air compressor setup it would be PCL without question

I've got a couple of PCL Hi-Flo Mk3 and they are standard by which all tyre inflators are judged by. The Mk4 looks nice and I really fancy the digital version. There's good reason why every garage in the country had one on their forcourt at one point.

I bought the digital one and I have to say I'm impressed with it - highly doubt it will last as long as the analogue but I'm happy it won't break if it gets dropped etc

I bought a Lidl digital one in 2014 & still on the original batteries. Cost £9.99, can’t beat that, I check it every so often against a couple of others & they all read the same.

only had it 6 months but on the set that came with it, kept in a cold damp room too.

Have you guys got push ons or clip ons? Both my Mk3 are push on but I've often it may be useful to have one of each

push on, when I bought mine the clip on was a fair bit more expensive. but you can buy replacement ends if you see fit in the future

they are about the same price now... but have gone up, I paid 49 quid for mine and it came with a pcl tyre pressure gauge (pen type) and 48hr courier.
they now seem to be 59 quid
