An idea for workshop lights

I have come across some 6w led gu10 bulbs that are extremely bright 395 lumens and cheap £2.49
with a daylight output. I have these in my kitchen now and they are twice as bright as the led's before.
the light is brilliant to work under, improving readability of small print etc .
I also have several sets of crome 5x eyeball 12v gu 16 lamps that I bought cheap.
I was thinking of getting some 6m length square plastic down spout drill holes in it, fit the eye balls into it. The wires will be tidy and all inside the down spout, I would need maybe 3 chains to hang the box section and only one wire to one end. I could easily adjust the height and the centre of light with the eyeballs, to put the light where needed.
I could do three lengths one on each side and another down the middle this would accompany the
sonfloods I have but their light is very intense and shadowy.
This will work out cheaper than led florries and it is only £2.49 if one goes, Very easy to fit bulb etc etc I was thinking of having a bulb every 5ft ish as they are in my kitchen.

I did just about the same as an experiment, not sure what lumen the bulbs were though.

Because it was experimental I simply fixed 4 along a 2 metre batten as a tryer and placed it above the workbench, afraid I was not impressed, the light was patchy and not as nice as the flourescent it was to replace.

As mentioned though. they may not have been the same brightness or spread as you have.

Comparison shots obviously daylight but you can see the spread and difference even in the window bay

Yeah they are probably totally different to the one's I tried, there is such a large variant in lumens, angle and colour, will be interesting to see the final results.

Also Total led wattage with x 15 would be 90W!!!

Fitted some of those cheap LED bulbs and they are great. However, I've lost three of them in less than six months (they are indoors). I'll be getting more to replace but I'll definitely be getting a decent brand this time as the cheap ones seem false economy.

Yeah I find the pound shop ones blow within hours of fitting them. lol

What make are the ones you have found Norm??

I am going now, to get some more, I will post when I return I got my mate some for his kitchen, he had 10 hal's in there and now says it is too bright and he is going to put zone switches in! as they are not dimmable.

Not the cheapest, but LED hut are normally pretty good.

the robus ones are of good quality but u get what u pay for . i dont get paid for renewing bulbs under warranty so i supply the best

the ones on the left I thought were 6w but as you can see are 5w and £2.49
the ES bulb ones are £4.59ish
they are very bright also

Home bargains stock them, seem good thus far, replaced 18 (!!) 35W halogens in my parents kitchen with them, lot brighter, easier to see, massively lower running costs and no failures as yet (several months and many hours down the line

Holy merd! Do they just put food in the kitchen to cook? There's no need for an oven

Just bought some eBay specials so it will be interesting to see how they last, 10 for £18 including delivery so I have a few spares.
