Hi all,
I think we all know the single use gas cylinders are a complete rip-off; having gone through two of them in no time I know I won't be buying any more. But I was deeply disappointed when I looked into other options, including HobbyWeld and Air Products rent free cylinders. I only want a small bottle (say ~10L), but I'm being quoted around £200 inc VAT! Sure there must be a cheaper option?
Air Products Ferromax 7 10L @ 230 Bar: £52.79 for the gas, £95.29 deposit, £30 for the regulator = £213 inc VAT
HobbyWeld 5 9L @ 137 Bar: £37.08 for the gas, £70 deposit, £35 for the regulator = £170.50 inc VAT
Obviously the Ferromax 7 is the better deal here - I just can't afford to spend that much! I was also offered a daily rental of Ferrmoax 7 in a 10L cylinder at £0.40 per day (presumably plus VAT) but that too works out expensive; with the deposit at least I can get most of it back, with rental I'd have spent more after a little over a month than the deposit minus admin fee (£20). What to do? I need to weld today!
