Heavy snow fall, major travel issues, A21 trunk road that we are on is blocked both ways. Poor travellers having issues:

First set pull in the farm yard, knock on the door and we end up feeding them supper and they are now in our snug by the log burner - no issues. They are probably going to have to stay over night.

Second set - barge straight into our yard, park their car and march out to the road passing our house without a word and certainly not asking if it's OK.

I've coned their car off, and firmly shut the gate and will await developements, but I think it's a blooming cheek !

I wouldn't describe you as grumpy. The second set would have been given a run down of the parking charges if it had been me in your shoes.

We had a similar experience many years ago - we lived a few miles south of Wantage on the Berkshire downs where the Hungerford road crosses the Ridgeway - 700 feet up. Anyway, much snow, me and two small boys had to walk home from town to find a car stuck outside the house - some passing USAF airmen had got it out of the ditch but they were going nowhere given the weather. The elderly couple were cold and said they were a bit concerned - husband has a serious heart condition! We got them indoors and fed them and called for an ambulance as he clearly wasn’t well, though were told there was no hope of getting up the hill and to just keep him warm .

About 20 minutes later three blokes barge in through the back door asking where the heart attack victim is! Two are paramedics, the other is a mate of mine - local GP - they’d commandeered a tractor to get up the hill . Doc says nothing to be done, he’s not going to croak anytime soon but can’t be moved - he’ll have to stay with you until the roads are clear. We gave them our bed, fed and watered them for three days until they could get out, not much else you can do in the circumstances, just hope someone would do the same for you if needed.

Knock up a wheel clamp and stick a "release charge" notice on the windscreen?

That looks like Granhams Rd in Great Shelford , you could have popped in for a cuppa, I’m about 400 metres from the level crossing . For anyone interested there is a lump of railway track about 2 metres long lying just to the right of the level crossing , just saying, like
