Is there a general use tig rod i want some 1.6mm and going to buy some i generally just use it on sheet aluminium al sorts of grades cos it's in the shed already so no idea of grade LOL.
I use 5356 for nearly everything I find 4043 not to be as flexible, boss got a box of 4043 2 weeks ago first angle I welded that needed a tap to square split even though there was plenty of penetration I prefer how 5356 welds, if I was asked to weld a sump or something different I'd look up the chart which will tell you what rod is good for what you're doing
If you're using it for body panels 10-series, if base material is compatible. The ductility of them are superior to all others and you can easily hammer down a weld completely flat without cracking, with no grinding ( which is not what you would do but just to give an idea how ductile it is). Otherwise 5356 over 4043 as mentioned.
