At least it only a few rods so you won't have loads sitting on the shelf after you decided it's not worth the bother.
If you do try them (or similar) please do report back.
I had a go with them once, loads of smoke ....couldn't really see anything.
The flux on the rods would turn to mush and fall off if they were a bit damp.
I have never used them, but have been in the weld booth when a guy was using them.
Very short welding time, a simple "crackle" and the rod is pretty much gone.
Deposit/bead/puddle looks bad, but if you dig in with a die grinder, apparently the deposit is pretty good.
He was joining 2" thick plates full pen welds, Vee'd out all the way, multiple (many) passes.
Shop finally did break down and buy a push/pull gun for the MIG welder.
I have heard this in regards to stick welding with aluminum rod:
"It's like trying to shuck walnuts in the dark, using a logsplitter".....
