Aluminium plinth/sill/flashing for house

It doesn't have to be aluminium, but it just seemed the obvious choice.

I don't see how lead or copper would be robust enough(i.e., it's likely to get knocked, or dented down there).

Just need some form of permanent sill that will look good and keep the water away from the base of the frame.

Done loads of these and similar. Preformed corners, about 300 from each corner, lengths folded up, with wide joining strips welded one end of each section on the back. Good quality sealant, and a couple of rivets.
Surprised there's no detail to have a return underneath to give it some strength, and to form a drip edge.....

I know what you mean about the bottom being returned up, that should be on.

What do you mean 'lengths folded up' though?

Remember lead should be in aprox 1.5Mtr lengths due to expansion

Advice on lead flashing
We fold cladding for commercial buildings & would always return cut edge for strength, also people will run hands along edges.

I say preformed corners, i should have said fabricated corners....

When I make them, I fold up a load of sheet lengths, and mitre a few short pieces and weld together to make the corner sections. Then use pieces 2.5m long (sheet length) to make up any long sections.

Why not use the folded & crimped joints like they use on metal sheet roofs?
