Hello,
Looking for some advice on an aluminium mig welding set up.
Figuring MIG is the way I want to go as the purpose of purchasing the welder is to weld up our tipper truck bodies at work during downtime/nights as opposed to during the working week
Understand that the setup needs to be completely different to my current mig welding setup (little rtech180 for car body repair) as the faff of changing wire and gas isn't something that I want to have to do
I need it to be single phase due to supply in the yard, and need it to be able to weld up to around 6mm material
local supplier has suggested a pulse miller with a price tag of circa 2k, but looking for something at around half that price point.
What would be the suggestions and any tips on what to look out for? 0 experience with aluminium so would very much be a learning experience. Pulse or not needed on thicker materials? Spool gun or traditional wire in welder set up?
Much appreciated
