Id use 6082 T6. Storing durable, weldable and very machinable. Billet is just a term used for a ***** of ali to machine
Cheers, I'll look into that. I assumed the same about the billet.Id use 6082 T6. Storing durable, weldable and very machinable. Billet is just a term used for a ***** of ali to machine
Someone already beat me to that. Those Tyga ones linked above don't have that problem. If you can design it so when it wears out it doesn't take the piston with it you'll be onto a winner..
Sorry - it's a pretty meaningless term, often used around 'go faster' type parts. I also suspect it means that it isn't anything special (but see below).Exactly, what is CNC billet aluminium?
Thanks For the info, but its a rotary valve fitted to the RG125 Gamma.Sorry - it's a pretty meaningless term, often used around 'go faster' type parts. I also suspect it means that it isn't anything special (but see below).
I don't know what the coating is - presumably the power valve has to slide against something without galling? Bare aluminium might not be very good for that.
This page (in French) says that they're anodised.
There's also a guy on the Aprilia forum who makes /made them for sale. He describes them as:
"Made with CNC machines from an unique piece of metal (special aluminium alloy, very strong).... Hard anodized."
Later on he says "...our PVs can stand 590°C (our material is the same aluminium used for turbochargers scrolls)"
(And then the problems start...)
Someone also mentions "The aluminium valves 2 pieces and 3 pieces have a nickel coating. Much more resistant than anodizing to both corrosion and wear."
Tread carefully...
