good stuff!
Repair was a freebie, or I should say, a bit of bartering, other halfs SLK roof takes turns, sometimes damn thing wont go up. Hydraulic oil has been changed, diagnostics read ok for electrics, I suspect a micro switch me self? I even dropped a viagra in the hydraulic tank, still wont go up
Piman, tis only the doors that are alloy, some guy down south manu's them. My thoughts too 20swg is a tad on the light side, verniers confirmed this.

No poxey waste cooking oil plant, spend far too much time there.... she was blowing steam from a pipe on the feed pump, old girl is due to be replaced in September for an all singing dancing gas or diesel burner... me and another guy have got to do the swap in a weekend
(like thats going to go to plan) interestingly when I spoke to potters who make it they reckon theres no point in insuring them or getting the annual inspections done, they've never had a boiler catastrophically fail and ITHO its never going to happen on one of there boilers....Boiler inspector said just the same last time he came down for the inspection also......puts a mockery on the whole pressure vessels directive really..

Replaced pipe yesterday so its up and running, the reason for replacement is simply age, the new ones are around 35% more efficient, which at a 6000L month of red, should soon start saving ££££. The new boiler should be officially inspected yearly (even from new) then every 3 years cut open and ultra sounded for cracks then re welded, last test set him in for nearly £2000, Potters have said its unnecessary, so I don't think he'll bother keeping up the insurance on this one.

I remember seeing a panel beater at Aston Martin doing a seam (butt) weld with gas and no filler. He made it look very easy. That was in the days when Aston's were making real hand made cars.
They have had, unfortunately, to go down market a bit to get some of the Porsche\Mercedes market.

What kind of steam boiler is that? Visual annual inspection, every 10 years strip down to shell and hydraulic test, but cut open what's the point in that? There should be adequate inspection/access hatches.W/A

nope built by potters, no inspection hatches to inspect the fire tubes )only front firebox) so cladding back and a physical cut into the main tube, coded guy comes down from Sheffield to do the cut and re works so its certainly not a cheep job....
The problem seams with boiler regs its there not hard and fast rules, more what one particular insurance requires, Its not a legal requirement to have the boiler inspections done, but its needed to insure it, as I said he's not bothering with the new boiler, even the inspector said that a design like a potters has never or is likely to have a catastrophic failure.
Ohh BTW with the new euro Regs (bltr) even tea earns in canteens fall under a pressure vessal....thus needing inspections
