Alloy wheel kerbing repair help needed

hi guys

I just bought a set of second hand alloy wheels for one of my classic cars.
I knew they needed a little tlc before buying them.

I would very much like some input into how to tackle this.

the kerbing is three depressions simular to small milkshake straw, 2 mm deep max
they are at a 45 to the rim

right, first off, how to clean the alloy with out leaving inclusions?
pre heat or not?? (i have a T220 lorch tig set)
what filler wire??

or anything else you can think off

If they are painted just use chemical metal like the wheel repair shops do.

yes thats an option

although not all wheel refurbers use filler

some do indeed tig weld them

will it be to much trouble to tig them ???

Tiging them is easy. I've done a couple and i'm still a novice.

I'd go with the steel epoxy like pedrobedro mentioned. The super steel epoxy would do the job.

my concerns are when the paint gets oven baked, how will the epoxy hold up

You can use super steel on your engine - high temp/ oil resistant.

Put it this way I have fixed breather tubes back on my engine with it years ago and it still holds strong.

Super steel can be used to fixed cracks in engine blocks even.

Well if they are diamond cut you'd have not choice but to tig them, the mobile welder who came in to repair the wheels at the refurb place I worked at used 4043 rods on the face as they are a better colour match. Then 5356 on cracks on the back as he said it was it a little stronger..

Although i don't tig them i use a mig, spool gun and 4043 wire. Been welding them for more than 30 years...Bob

there not getting diamond cut so no real need I suppose
