Alloy (aluminium) cleaner

when I take the truck to a truckwash they have a cleaner they spray on (in what looks like a garden sprayer), it's the only reason I take it there as it cleans the fuel tank/catwalk etc perfect, no amount of steam cleaning or brushing gets the results they get with whatever cleaner they're using

what is it??

Ideally I'd keep some in a small spray bottle for when washing with brush/hose

I use Jennychem Iron-x for my wheels it turns purple and the dirt/brake dust just runs off with water afterwards.

its an acid of some sort , one of the coach builders I worked for used it , turns dull grey horrid alloy into fresh shiny alloy , but I dread to think of what it does to other things .

There is a product called ali-brite but this can result in a dull finish as its an acid based product

Every time you use that cleaner it is stripping a layer off your alloy. Use it too much and it will probably damage it.

to be clear...truck doesn't have alloy wheels, this is on the fuel tank and cat walk (both are aluminium..), I think they use a different sprayer for the wheels but not sure

was kinda hoping someone would say 'oh that's xyz cleaner, all the valeters use it' but I now have more options than I started with

will order a few things from jennychem, plenty litreish sized bottles for under a tenner to try

Autosmart. Scary stuff though. The mild one is Hydrochloric 5%

The strong one is Hydrofluoric

when the truck was bought (used, from MAN dealership) the tank/catwalk was spotless but no shine, almost pitted looking so whatever they used then must have been the harsh stuff
hard to say! but whatever they use at the truckwash doesn't seem as harsh

The strong one is Hydrofluoric

Maybe expensive, but they work well ........... if the correct one is applied
