Evening all.
So fairly recently a friend spotted this 110 volt Powerfeed for sale second hand on a French equivalent of Gumtree (LeBonCoin), thought of me, phoned me, advertised as from a Bridgeport, and now it's mine. Was about €100.
This photo does not show it complete, there's a fast advance button I've unplugged, to get to the business end, it's missing the cover which should protect the big gear you can see on the left hand end, I can either make or buy one, that's not the issue.
It works, does everything it should, been tested by my mate and me, nice solid cast aluminium case, runs smoothly in different speeds etc...
Came with some home made attachment to mount horizontally on the left hand side of the table.
And here's where my issues start.
It was supplied with the 'dog' thingy gear (lower middle picture),and had previously been mounted horizontally, on the left hand side of the table, I guess.
So I dismantled the LHS handle on the table hoping for the shaft to fit, and to find a matching 'dog' thingy (excuse my lack of knowledge over terms). But, no, no dog thing and the shaft is a couple of mm to small, and has a keyed shaft.
Ho, hum.
Then I dismantled the RHS, and low and behold found the casting, bottom RHS of photo, practically the same as on the powerfeed, and the micrometer knob this has a very similar cog on it and I thought bingo !
But no.
The original dog cog supplied with are both straight gear cogs, whereas the cog off the mill is beveled.
I do hope I'm using the right terminology.
So I figure three choices.
Mount it horizontally on the left hand side, shim the play in the dog cog, and cut keyways into the shim, both sides, and the dog cog. Leaving it sticking out horizontally over the LHS of the table. I'm right handed incidentally.
Or
Fabricate a gear which matches the bevel, hang it vertically, on the RHS, which is the ideal solution, my mates capable, and has offered to do it, but he's always busy, but this is certainly an option.
Or
Buy one, can't find any. Any ideas people ?
Or am I thick and missing an obvious solution .
I'll get some better photos tomorrow.
Thanks all.
